Call for Volunteers

The Foster Festival is seeking volunteers for our 2022 outdoor production of The Foursome by Norm Foster. Successful candidates will work closely with the Box Office Manager and the General Manager.  Volunteers are an essential part of our organization, giving time, talent, and skills to our mission of producing engaging and entertaining Canadian theatre!

We are seeking volunteers for the following show dates: Sept 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17.
Volunteers are not required to be available for every performance.

All Foster Festival Volunteers receive complimentary access to our shows.

VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Box Office / Front of House Volunteer (1)

  • Volunteers assigned this position will work closely with the Box Office Manager to check patrons in to the seating area.
  • Required Times: 6:00pm – 8:30pm

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be comfortable in customer service
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Have a strong sense of organization and thrive in a supportive team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Customer Service experience is an asset
  • Be able to follow through on your assigned duties
  • Reliable transportation to and from your assigned Golf Course is required

 

Ushers (2)

  • Volunteers assigned this position will guide patrons to the seating area, as well as hand out programs to these patrons. In the event of inclement weather and the production moving inside, these volunteers will be asked to set up chairs in our indoor performance space. These volunteers will be asked to guide people to washrooms in the dark during intermission. These volunteers will be required to stay until the end of the production to guide patrons from the seating area to the parking lot in the dark. In the event of inclement weather, these volunteers will also be asked to put away any chairs they set up in any indoor space once the performance has finished. The number of chairs will depend of the venue, but please note it will be between 50-100 chairs needing to be put away.
  • Required Times: 6:00pm – 10:00pm (or until end of the performance and end of duties)

 

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with theatre is an asset
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Thrive in a supportive team environment
  • Ability to handle varied levels of multi-tasking and to adapt
  • Be able to follow through on assigned duties
  • Must be comfortable with light manual labour
  • Reliable transportation to and from your assigned Golf Course is required.

 

50/50 Raffle Volunteers (2)

  • Volunteers assigned this position will handle our 50/50 raffle ticket sales. These volunteers will handle cash transactions from patrons and will be responsible for documenting and returning cash payment to the appropriate staff members.
  • Required Times: 6:00pm – 9:00pm (or until end of intermission)

 

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with theatre is an asset
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Sales experience is an asset
  • Customer service experience is an asset
  • Must be comfortable handling cash payments
  • Must be comfortable interacting with patrons
  • Be able to follow through on assigned duties
  • Reliable transportation to and from your assigned Golf Course is required

 

Requirements:

  • Be legally entitled to volunteer in Canada

  • Please note that we have removed our masking and vaccination policies, but we still do strongly encourage all volunteers to wear masks during their allotted volunteering time.
