SOCIAL MEDIA ASSISTANT – JOB DESCRIPTION

The Foster Festival is seeking a Social Media Assistant for our 2022 outdoor production of 1812 by Norm Foster. The successful candidate will work closely with The Foster Festival’s Artistic Producer, Emily Oriold. Preference will be given to residents of Niagara region.

Candidates must be available for the full time period of the production to be considered.

HOURS

  • 35 hours/week.
  • Will be required to work evenings and weekends.
  • This is a 2-month position with possibility of extension.
  • Dates: May 2  – June 26, 2022

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Work with the office staff to provide social media marketing support for the production. 
  • Assist with content creation including text write ups and simple graphic design (Canva). 
  • Assist with promotional material distribution. 
  • Assist with creating and following a content creation/execution schedule with daily goals. 
  • Under supervision, plan and organize advertising campaign. 
  • Assist with photography and social media posting. 
  • Other duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with graphic design programs such as Canva is an asset. 
  • Familiarity with Social Media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
  • Familiarity with theatre and not-for-profit marketing is an asset. 
  • Understand the importance of deadlines.
  • Be punctual and reliable.
  • Have a strong sense of organization and thrive in a supportive team environment.
  • Be able to follow through on assigned duties with a strong sense of self-direction and discretion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle varied levels of multi-tasking and to adapt.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to our branding will be of great importance. 
  • Valid Ontario G Drivers’ License is a plus. Reliable transportation to and from work is required.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Be a Canadian citizen, or permanent resident; and
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations;
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.

  • All staff, production team members and artists must adhere to the safety measures as outlined in this document.
  • All staff, production team members and artists will be given a copy of the document prior to signing an engagement contract with the Festival.
