Fostering New Works Play Development and The Fostered Playwrights Festival
Help support the development of new works by Canadian Playwrights The Foster Festival looks to produce beginning 2024.
Beginning 2024 we will select three new plays in development for our Fostered Playwrights Festival, a weekend of readings performed live by our professional actors with the writers in attendance. Audience members will be invited to engage in talkbacks following each reading to ask questions and give feedback as we decide which play to produce. The pieces will all be workshopped with professional directors and actors and developed throughout the year with Norm and our artistic producing team as we prepare one for its world premiere in Nov 2024. Help to support our team create the next great Canadian show to hit the Foster Festival Stage.
Accommodations: Sponsor an Artist by Subsidizing Accommodation Expenses
One of the biggest challenges that The Foster Festival faces each year is housing its talent. To provide the professional quality you have come to expect from The Foster Festival we draw upon directors, designers, actors, and stage managers from across the province and country. Consequently, they need somewhere to stay for up to the 6-week duration they are with us in Niagara. To compete with limited availability, Airbnb, and Vrbo we are subject to high cost, short term rentals. We hope you will consider making a donation or become an artist accommodation sponsor to help subsidize their housing and relieve the burden of added living expenses during our artists’ time here in the Niagara region.
Our Full Season of Theatre
Whether its our stunning sets, costumes, the site-specific and theatrical spaces we produce in; the talent and expertise we bring in; or, the finishing touches we make to bring it all together, it all requires resources. Ticket sales only contribute 40% to our budget, and in an attempt to keep our prices at the most affordable level we can manage for the whole of our community while maintaining the quality productions we’ve been lauded for, we turn to other revenue streams.
