Born and raised in the Niagara Region, Steve had his beginnings in the community theatres of Grimsby, Smithville and St. Catharines. This led to stints at both Brock University and The National Theatre School of Canada where he studied acting. He’s performed in plays and musicals across the country and this year will mark his 21st season with The Stratford Festival.

A professional actor for over 30 years now, his writing career began during the pandemic. He wrote and directed goldfish for the Here for Now Festival in Stratford (thanks to Fiona Mungillo) and has two more writing credits with them: Life Without and the upcoming 12 Dinners.

Mechanically Inclined is a valentine to both Shakespeare and those community theatre roots. It’s truly been a blessing to develop this play with Norm and the team at The Foster Festival. Mr. Foster’s work has long been an inspiration as an actor and now a writer. All thanks to Norm, Emily, and Jamie for creating an incredible opportunity. This has been both an education and a true pleasure. To quote Academy Award winner Ruth Gordon when she won her first Oscar at 72 years old, “I can’t tell ya what an encouragin’ thing this is.”

This summer you can see Steve as Shylock in Something Rotten! and Albin in La Cage aux Folles at The Stratford Festival.
